Don't skip the warm-up.

You've heard it before. We say it in all of our programs...

DON'T SKIP THE WARM UP!

But why? What does a warm-up actually do?

Warming up before working out is actually a relatively new concept.

Just ask any pro athlete from the 1980-90s's and they'll tell you how...

They would just go out and "bomb workouts and runs - no warm up, bro".

They'll also list their current injuries and ailments...

Anyone who tells you warming up is for *insert offensive word of your choice here* is a f*cking clown- let's make that clear.

Warming up before any physical activity is essential to prevent injury, improve performance, and increase flexibility.

Here are some of the key benefits of warming up before a workout:

Reduced risk of injury: A proper warm-up helps to increase blood flow and oxygen to the muscles, making them more flexible and less prone to injury.

Improved performance: Warming up prepares your body for physical activity, allowing you to perform at your best and achieve your fitness goals.

Increased flexibility: By warming up, you increase your range of motion and flexibility, which helps to prevent muscle strains and soreness.

Now that we understand the importance of warming up, let's take a look at an example warm-up routine before a running workout.

Keep in mind everyone is different, and you'll learn more about yourself and your body - what you need and don't need, as you progress:

Start with a light jog or brisk walk for 5-10 minutes to get your heart rate up and increase blood flow to your muscles.

Do some dynamic stretches, such as leg swings, walking lunges, and high knees, to improve your range of motion and flexibility.

Perform some activation exercises, such as butt kicks, jumping jacks, squat jumps, or lunges to engage your muscles and prepare your body for the workout ahead.

Finish with some light static stretching, such as hamstring stretches, calf stretches, and quad stretches, to cool down and prevent muscle soreness.

Simple.

Remember, taking 15 minutes to properly warm up before a workout can make all the difference in your performance and overall fitness.

So, let's all make sure to incorporate a warm-up routine into our workouts from now on.

There you go.

One less excuse in the bank.

Let's get it!
